Two Fatalities at Newmont’s Cerro Negro Mine, Argentina

Newmont has confirmed the passing of two of its workers at its Cerro Negro mine in Argentina. Details regarding the cause of the death are currently under investigation. Both teammates worked in Newmont’s technical services team.

Newmont said authorities have been notified and a full investigation into the incident has commenced. Relevant learnings from the investigation will be embedded into Newmont’s safety standards.

In response to the incident, the company has suspended mine activities at Cerro Negro.
