Rhino Resource Partners Subsidiary Cam Mining to Layoff Miners at Kentucky Coal Mine
An eastern Kentucky mining company has announced it will be permanently terminating nearly 200 positions.
CAM Mining, which is owned by Rhino Resource Partners, issued a WARN Act notice Thursday to all of its 194 hourly and salaried employees at the Pike County company.
The move comes as Rhino plans to sell its assets in bankruptcy proceedings in the coming months, according to the notice.
Rhino President and CEO Richard Boone said in the notice the company is hopeful a future buyer will rehire former employees.
The company expects the first layoffs to begin Sept. 20.
