Resolution Copper Names Victoria Peacey as President and General Manager

Arizona-based mining company, Resolution Copper, named Victoria (Vicky) Peacey as the project’s new president and general manager, responsible for overseeing all aspects of planning, development, and operations.
A longtime copper and mining industry veteran who has served as acting project director since the summer, Vicky Peacey has held a number of leadership roles at Resolution Copper and Rio Tinto, which she joined in 2002. Most recently, Peacey was chief of staff to the chief operating officer for Rio Tinto Copper. Her previous roles at Resolution Copper include senior manager community and external affairs as well as senior manager permitting and cultural heritage, where she played a key role in community engagement and technical studies that built strong local support for the project. Earlier in her career, Peacey held a variety of operations and environmental positions with Rio Tinto Kennecott and Barneys Canyon in Utah and Kennecott Eagle Minerals in Michigan.
“Vicky brings a depth of knowledge and experience to the Resolution Copper project that make her ideally suited to lead the team through this critical moment in its development. Her strong ties to this community and commitment to responsible development and operations will help us build a model for mining copper in the future,” said Clayton Walker, chief operating officer, Rio Tinto Copper.
Resolution Copper is expected to be a critical player in the nation’s clean energy transition, with the potential to supply up to one quarter of U.S. copper demand, adding up to $1 billion a year to Arizona’s economy and creating thousands of local jobs in a region where mining has played an important role for more than a century. Working with community partners and Native American tribes, Resolution Copper is committed to helping build healthy, strong, and resilient communities where they live and work.

The Resolution Copper project is a proposed underground mine 60 miles east of Phoenix, Arizona, near the town of Superior. The project is a joint venture owned by Rio Tinto (55 percent) and BHP (45 percent).
