Pilbara Minerals is benefiting from a strong lithium sector as it commences work on a feasibility study for its Pilgangoora lithium-tantalite project located near Port Hedland in Western Australia.

A major resource upgrade is on the cards for Pilgangoora expected to be completed later this month after a 2015 resource in-fill and extensional drilling program returned further thick, high grade intercepts.

Taking advantage of the strength in the lithium sector which has seen the Pilbara Minerals’ share price climb, the company is stepping up the pace with a Pre-Feasibility Study due for completion by March 2016 as well as the Definitive Feasibility Study, which is due for completion by mid-year.

The aim is to have Pilgangoora in full production by 2018, positioning it to capitalize on the extremely robust market outlook for lithium.

Pilbara had cash reserves of about $14 million in November 2015.
