The Pennsylvania Coal Alliance (PCA) and its members applaud the Trump Administration’s move to repeal regulations designed to destroy fossil fuel electricity generating power plants.

We are in the midst of a national energy crisis, and these regulations have wrongfully targeted America’s most fuel-secure, reliable and resilient energy source — coal.

The United States Environmental Protection Agency proposal will repeal regulations that set unachievable emission standards, force generation shifting, and mandate power plants to install unproven technology that has not been adequately demonstrated.

The PCA has long been sounding the alarm regarding the war against coal and the many misguided policies aimed at destroying the industry. These policies are to blame for the current threat to grid stability and the increase in electricity costs that consumers are experiencing.

Today’s announcement represents a return to rational energy policy and hopefully a reverse of these irresponsible trends while continuing to support the coal industry and the billions in economic impact it brings to our Commonwealth.

The Pennsylvania Coal Alliance is committed to promoting and advancing the Pennsylvania coal industry and the economic and social benefit to the employees, businesses, communities, and consumers who depend on affordable, reliable, and increasingly clean energy from coal.
