Peninsula Energy and its subsidiary, Strata Energy, have started construction of the expanded Ross Central Processing Plant (CPP) at the Lance Project in Wyoming.

The project’s engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor, Samuel, has kicked off earthworks as part of the uranium plant’s expansion.

This expansion is a strategic enhancement to increase the facility’s production capacity to up to 2.0 million pounds per annum of dry yellowcake (uranium oxide).

Previously, modifications were made to the existing plant to facilitate the processing of low-PH In-Situ Recovery (ISR) solutions.

The ongoing expansion will not only boost production rates but also accommodate the necessary facilities for dry yellowcake production.

Samuel has completed the detailed engineering and secured long-lead time items essential for the project’s progress.

The construction of the Lance plant and the development of the associated wellfield are on schedule, with commissioning expected by late 2024.

“It’s exciting to see construction underway on the expansion of Ross Central Processing Plant. This is a key piece of the jigsaw for us, providing the ability to produce a finished product for our customers, without having to rely on any third-party processing facilities,” said Peninsula Managing Director and CEO Wayne Heili.

“It is pleasing to see the project evolve daily. With the momentum we currently have, we remain confident of hitting our production targets for 2025,” added Heili.

Peninsula Energy Limited is an uranium mining company with its 100 percent owned Lance Project in Wyoming one of the largest near-term uranium development projects in the United States. Currently undergoing a project transformation initiative, the long-life Lance Project is transitioning to a low cost and environmentally friendly low pH ISR operation. Once back in production, Lance will establish Peninsula as a fully independent end-to-end producer of yellowcake. Lance is well-placed to become a key supplier of uranium and play an important role in creating a clean energy future.
