An international mining services company headquartered in Finland has announced it will be closing two Pennsylvania facilities and consolidating them with one in the York area.

Metso Corp. said Thursday the consolidation of its minerals capital and minerals services activities in Pennsylvania will result in the closing of facilities in Danville and Canonsburg by the end of the second quarter in 2017.

About 175 employees, about 60 of whom are at Danville, will be affected, and they will have the opportunity to relocate to York County, Metso says.

The Danville operations include engineering, project management, technical support and administration, the company says.

“We expect that this change will improve our ability to serve our customers through new innovations, more streamlined service and greater efficiency,  said João Ney Colagrossi, president of Metso Minerals Capital business area.

“We will continue to serve our customers uninterrupted during the transition.”

Metso serves a variety of industries, including mining, oil, gas, pulp and paper. It has in excess of 12,000 employees in more than 50 countries.
