IntelliSense.io Partners with SEP, Mitsubishi, and HCM to Scale Industrial Decision Intelligence
IntelliSense.io said it has received a significant investment from SEP, a leading investor in enterprise technology companies, alongside strategic investments from Mitsubishi and Hitachi Construction Machinery Co.
The investment will accelerate product development, drive expansion into new geographies, and scale go-to-market operations.
“Mining sits at the foundation of every supply chain the world is racing to secure. Our Scientific AI encodes the actual physics and chemistry governing a process, not just patterns in data, so it can make consistent, explainable, and real-time decisions for both people and machines,” said Sam Bose, founder and CEO, IntelliSense.io
“This investment lets us take that capability to every major mining region in the world,” added Bose.
IntelliSense.io’s AI-native platform helps mining operators and asset owners continuously identify and automate optimzation opportunities that have traditionally been too complex to capture.
By combining real-world physical process constraints with each site’s own configuration and data, the platform makes real-time decisions through autonomous execution agents across critical mine and plant operational processes, including material tracking from open pit and underground, stockpile management, grinding, flotation, leaching, and thickening, delivering higher throughput and metal recovery while lowering energy and reagent consumption.
In deployments where the technology is fully live, outcomes include up to a 5 percent increase in throughput, 2 percent increase in recovery, and 8 percent reduction in reagent consumption, at operations already considered among the most optimized in the industry.
IntelliSense.io’s technology is in production across more than 24 deployments at tier 1 mining companies spanning eight countries and more than eight commodities.
“IntelliSense.io is closely aligned with SEP’s strategy of partnering with founders to build leading enterprise technology businesses that solve complex and critical problems for demanding global enterprises,” said Keith Davidson, managing partner, SEP.
“Sam and the team have built a strong foundation, and we look forward to working closely with them to support international expansion, continued commercial development, and the company’s long-term ambitions,” added Davidson.
“Mineral processing is vital to the global economy, but it remains among the most complex industrial environments in which to deploy AI at scale,” said Daniel Muranda, principal, SEP.
“IntelliSense.io has built a differentiated platform that combines deep process expertise with technology that can autonomously improve operating decisions in real time. Its strong, blue-chip customer base and expanding product footprint give us confidence in the company’s long-term potential,” added Muranda.
STRATEGIC ADVISORY BOARD
Mark Cutifani (former CEO, Anglo American), Nick Popovic (former co-head of Glencore Copper and Zinc Marketing and Chair, Kazzinc), and Nev Power (former CEO, Fortescue Metals Group) have each invested and will join a newly formed strategic advisory board alongside representatives from SEP, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Hitachi Construction Machinery.
Between them, Cutifani, Popovic, and Power bring decades of leadership experience across some of the world’s largest mining companies, giving the board a direct operational perspective on what AI-enabled decision systems must deliver at an industrial scale.
Enterprise AI is moving beyond generic tools toward domain-specific applications that deliver measurable outcomes.
At the same time, physical AI is bringing intelligence directly into real-world operations, while mining and critical minerals are increasingly recognized as strategic, sovereign infrastructure.
As demand grows for trusted, controllable AI systems, IntelliSense.io sits at the intersection of these converging trends — bringing together a specialist technology investor (SEP) and industrial-scale expertise (Mitsubishi Corporation, Hitachi Construction Machinery) in one coalition.
Global supply chains for copper, lithium, and rare earths are being reshaped by geopolitics, and nations racing to build domestic critical minerals processing capacity need more than new plants — they need the operational intelligence to set them up faster and run them sustainably.
IntelliSense.io’s platform already spans the full value chain from mine to midstream processing, keeping all data and model learnings inside the customer’s own stack as operations scale from test lab to industrial operation.
This positions IntelliSense.io as a trusted partner for governments and producers pursuing both AI sovereignty and critical minerals security.
IntelliSense.io is the leader in industrial decision intelligence for mining and minerals processing. Founded in Cambridge, UK, the company’s AI-native platform — brains.app for operational data and knowledge, combined with brains.edge and brains.expert that deliver autonomous and augmented decision-making — spans critical mine and plant operational processes including material tracking from open pit and underground, stockpile management, grinding, flotation, leaching, and thickening. IntelliSense.io’s technology is protected by a patent portfolio spanning six families and more than 22 filings across eight countries. Delivered as a managed software service (MSS) combining real-time AI with deep industrial domain expertise, the platform is in production across more than 24 deployments at tier 1 mining companies, across eight countries and commodities.
SEP is one of Europe’s leading technology investment firms, establishing long-term partnerships to help founders and management teams in enterprise technology companies to achieve their global ambitions. With a 25-year track record, SEP partners with founders who are transforming how enterprises operate and grow. SEP takes an active approach to value creation, combining deep end-market knowledge with specialist resources to drive operational improvements and support entrepreneurial leaders in scaling their businesses.
