Fatality at Reclamation Site of Decondor Coal Mine, W. Va.

According to West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection officials, a man was killed after a ditch caved in on him at the former Decondor Coal site Tuesday. He was working on a bond reclamation project for the WVDEP’s Office of Special Reclamation.

The man’s name has not been released, but was working for Breakaway Inc. out of Sutton. He was installing a water treatment system.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Preston County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the incident.
