Coalview Centralia Fine Coal Recovery Plant Receives Safety Award

Coalview Centralia was awarded the SMART Association’s A-Team Safety Award. SMART is a leading business association providing companies with the resources to manage and control risk in Washington State. The award recognizes the company’s achievement of having $0.00 losses for the retroactive plan year for group members reporting more than $100,000 annual labor and industries premium. Less than two percent of the members achieved this impressive milestone.
“Our Coalview Centralia plant is approaching its third year of operation with an injury-free safety record. The award is a fitting recognition for our employee’s focus on compliance with regulations and safe work practices. In addition, our Centralia plant has achieved high efficiency and availability that are significantly better than industry standard,” said Roger Fish, CEO of Coalview.
“Coalview Centralia has an additional 10 years of project life. The construction and operation of the project are part of the continuing reclamation of the Centralia Site. The project helps eliminate the volume of material in the impoundments, and mitigate environmental concerns,” said David Schwedel, executive director and lead investor of Coalview.
The Coalview Centralia plant represents a $42 million investment. Upon completion of material processing, a large scale environmental program will continue allowing the post-mining land use to include upland forestry, lowland forest (wetland, riparian, fish and wildlife habitat), pastureland, and industrial land.
