Chemours Opens New $86 Million Titanium Dioxide Plant, Georgia

The titanium dioxide (TiO2) business of chemical firm The Chemours Company recently invested $86 million in a project to open a new production facility in Jesup, GA, a press release issued by the Georgia Department of Economic Development announced this week.
“It is with great excitement that we expand our minerals operations into the State of Georgia following 71 years of successful mining in Florida. Our expansion includes the acquisition of Southern Ionics Minerals and the investment in our new Jesup plant,” Chemours Titanium Technologies President Bryan Snell said in a statement.
Located near high-quality concentrated deposits of titanium and zircon sands, the Chemours Titanium Technologies Minerals Operations plant will manufacture the firm’s Ti-Pure brand of Ti02. Zicron made at the site will be used in precision casting.
