Bonterra Resources Appoints Industry Veteran Greg Gibson as CEO
Bonterra Resources Inc said Thursday that it has appointed industry veteran Greg Gibson as the company’s permanent chief executive for his strategic repositioning of the company and laser-focus on realizing the potential of its Urban-Barry assets.
In a statement, the company also said that it is tapping Jamie Lavigne as the company’s vice president for exploration.
“Several highly qualified candidates were considered, however none had Greg’s industry knowledge and all-round mining experience,” said Allan Folk, who was the chair of the nominating committee.
“Since stepping in on an interim basis in February 2019, he has strategically repositioned the company to realize the potential of its Urban-Barry assets,” he added.
Gibson has over 35 years of experience in the mining industry both as an executive and operator, with hands-on experience as a miner, mine manager, CEO and director. He has been involved with several gold and copper mines in Canada, the US and Australia.
Most notably, Gibson led the Trelawney Mining and Exploration company as CEO and director from an early explorer to its $608 million sale to IAMGOLD in 2012.
“I am excited to continue in this role and to work with Jamie, whose range of experience in the exploration and development cycle will be an important asset as we expand and advance our current resources and explore our large land position in the Urban-Barry camp,” said Gibson.
GOLD PROJECTS IN QUEBEC
Bonterra has been advancing its gold projects in Quebec, which include the Gladiator, Barry and Moroy deposits as well as significant regional targets. It also has 100 percent ownership of the Urban-Barry Mill, the only permitted gold mill in the region. Recent drilling at the Gladiator and Barry projects in Quebec intersected high-grade gold.
Lavigne is an economic geologist with over 30 years of experience in exploration, delineation, resource estimation, and mine development.
The geologist has developed expertise in gold mineralization systems through project work and consulting assignments in South East Asia, Colombia, Peru, Mexico, the western US, and Archean terrains in eastern and northern Canada. Lavigne has a master’s degree in geology and is a registered professional geologist.
