Atlantic Lithium Ltd. has received its environmental permit (EPA permit) for the Ewoyaa Lithium Project from Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The permit serves as the EPA’s approval for the company’s proposed activities at the project, said the statement, and is an important landmark in the permitting process for the project.

The final EIS submission incorporated feedback from the EPA, and queries from affected communities in the two public hearings held by the EPA, both of which highlighted the exceptionally strong local support, said Atlantic.

“The grant of the EPA permit marks a major step towards the construction of Ghana’s first lithium mine and follows a collaborative engagement process with the EPA and the residents of project’s catchment area to ensure their alignment with the company’s proposed activities at Ewoyaa,” said Neil Herbert, Atlantic Lithium’s executive chairman.

“This approval is a testament to Atlantic Lithium’s commitment to acting as a responsible custodian of the land on which we operate, which we consider to be imperative to the long-term success of the project. We are delighted to have full backing from the EPA and our local stakeholders,” added Herbert.

Atlantic Lithium is advancing a portolio of lithium projects in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire through to producton. The company’s flagship project, the Ewoyaa Project in Ghana, is a significant lithium spodumene pegmatte discovery on track to become Ghana’s first lithium-producing mine. The company signed a funding agreement with Piedmont Lithium towards the development of the project. At the Ewoyaa Project, Atlantc Lithium intends to be producing spodumene concentrate via a simple gravity only process flowsheet.
