Arch Resources has released the publication of its 2023 sustainability report. The report details Arch’s commitment to the highest environmental, social and governance principles.

“Safety, environmental stewardship, integrity, and corporate responsibility form the bedrock of Arch’s corporate culture. We are committed to industry leadership in our environmental, social and governance performance, and to reporting on our ESG progress in a regular, open, measurable, and comprehensive manner,” said Paul Lang, Arch’s CEO and president. 

“We are proud of the Arch team’s many accomplishments to date, which are highlighted in our 2023 sustainability report, and remain sharply focused on driving continuous improvement across our wide-ranging sustainability efforts,” added Lang.

Among the highlights, the report delineates Arch’s:
• Goals and key performance indicators for 2023
• Lost-time incident rate of 0.57 per 200,000 employee-hours worked in 2022, versus the industry average of
  2.17
• Achievement of a 100 percent compliance record against more than 100,000 water quality measurements
  conducted in 2022
• Recycling of more than 2.2 billion gallons of water in 2022, constituting the avoidance of a commensurate
  amount of new water drawn
• Pre-funding to target levels of its industry-first thermal mine reclamation fund, which sets aside sufficient cash
  for final reclamation of its Powder River Basin operations
• Average annual voluntary retention rate of 92 percent over the past five years, highlighting Arch’s safe,
  respectful and employee-focused corporate culture
