Tycoon Victor Consunji, who was at the helm of listed firm Semirara Mining and Power Corp., passed away at the age of 68.

“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear and beloved Mr. Victor Almeda Consunji on December 27, 2018. He was 68 years of age,” Semirara Mining informed the local bourse on Friday.

The cause of Consunji’s death was not disclosed.

At the time of his death, Consunji was Seminara Mining’s vice chairman of the board of directors, president and chief operating officer.

Aside from being a director of DMCI Holdings, Consunji was also the president and chief operating officer of Semirara Mining units SEM-Calaca Power Corp. and Southwest Luzon Power Generation Corp.

During his stint, Consunji was able to turn around the coal mining operations, enabling the company “to reach new heights paving the way for SMPC to become the only integrated power company in the country.”
