Robert Gentile and Robert Murray Receive the Washington Coal Club’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Two Belmont County residents traveled to Washington, D.C., to receive the Washington Coal Club’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” on Wednesday.

One was Leonardo Technologies, Inc. President and CEO Robert Gentile, who has both served as the U.S. Department of Energy’s Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy, and the U.S. Department of Interior’s Director of the Office of Surface Mining.

Gentile is a native of Steubenville.

Also honored was Robert Murray, CEO of Murray Energy Corporation — one of the largest coal-mining companies is in the country.

Gentile said he was honored to receive the acknowledgement, and that he hopes to keep working for economic betterment in the energy landscape.

The Washington Coal Club is a non-profit organization consisting of members with diverse coal-related interests and backgrounds ranging from producers, transporters, legislators, and policymakers. Periodically, the Washington Coal Club honors deserving individuals who have proven their dedication by spending a career advancing the betterment of the U.S. coal industry.
