Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition to Showcase Its Largest Supplier and Speaker Presence

The Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition will be showcasing its largest and strongest supplier and speaker presence in recent years as it celebrates 25 years in Mackay from Tuesday.

Registrations for the state’s largest mining and engineering exhibition are still open.

The free-to-attend exhibition, which runs from July 24-26, brings together mining personnel, leading suppliers and renowned speakers, to discuss driving productivity, profitability and protection of the industry.

QME will host more than 230 companies (an impressive 41 percent increase from QME 2016) including Hastings Deering, Downer, Flender, Flexco, Vermeer, Mastermyne, Becker Mining Systems, Puma Energy, Valley Longwall International and many more.

Running alongside the exhibition will be a seminar series featuring more than 30 speakers providing visitors with exclusive access to the latest industry technologies and insights via keynote presentations, panel discussions and case study presentations.

Tuesday, July 24 - 10:15-11:15am

NEXT HORIZON

Austmine’s CEO Christine Gibbs Stewart and industry leaders deliver an in-depth discussion about the pathway forward for the mining and METS sectors.

The discussion will cover the pathway forward for the Mining and the Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) sector.

This session aims to leave visitors with a view of ‘Mining’s Next Horizon’.

Wednesday, July 25 - 10:15-11:15am

TRANSFORMING REGIONAL QUEENSLAND - A LOOK AT THE REGIONAL NEEDS AND CURRENT PROJECTS THAT ARE AND WILL SHAPE THE REGION

Visitors can hear from David Fletcher CEO Carpentaria Rail, Darren Walker QEC Deputy Chair - Minerals and Coal, Queensland Exploration Council and Todd Harrington Resources Investment Commissioner, Queensland Government about current projects in the region and how local businesses can capitalize on the $14 billion investment that minerals and energy companies inject into Mackay and Fitzroy each year.

INNOVATION AND EXCELLENCE AT THE COAL FACE

Mackay Region is cementing itself as the ‘Silicon Valley’ of the mining equipment, technology and service (METS) sector. A selection of local companies will showcase their innovative solutions and demonstrate why Mackay METS sector is continuing to grow from strength to strength.

Thursday, July 26 -12-12:45pm

OHS SERIES - THE REAL COST OF FATIGUE

Caterpillar Technology representative Kellen Timboe will discuss the impact of fatigue on employee performance in the workplace and how this correlates to at-risk behaviors.

Kellen will share real examples of companies who have successfully invested in the effective management of fatigue through culture and technology to lower the impact and cost of employee fatigue in the workplace, and identify at risk behaviors.

QME also will showcase live demonstrations, new product launches and offer various networking opportunities including the official networking event taking place at QME tomorrow from 4:30pm.

QME will not return to Mackay until 2020.

It is a free to attend exhibition for the mining industry and organizers are encouraging everyone who works and services the industry to head down to the Mackay showgrounds.
