New Gold Pours First Gold at Rainy River Gold Mine, Ontario
Toronto-based New Gold Inc. on Friday announced that its new Rainy River Gold Mine completed its first gold “pour” this week.
Mining at the new facility, located about 40 miles northwest of International Falls near Emo, Ontario, started in August at the all-new mine and processing center. The mill began processing ore on Sept. 14, averaging about 14,000 tons per day.
The first pour netted 500 ounces of gold and 600 ounces of silver, the first production from the new operation. That was about $642,000 (U.S.) worth of gold and $8,500 of silver at Friday’s prices.
