Irwin Mining and Supply Acquires Prox Chain’s Product Lines
Irwin Mine and Tunneling Supply purchased the product line of Prox Chain, an Indiana-based manufacturer of chains for mining and other uses.
William Baker, CEO of the North Huntingdon-based company, said in a statement that Prox chains “are an ideal complement to our portfolio of mining and tunneling equipment and replacement parts.”
Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, and company representatives couldn’t be reached. Prox Chain’s Highwall Miner chain is used in continuous mining equipment and its cutter chains are used in salt mining.
The Irwin company will supply Prox Chain products, including chains used in railroad maintenance, through a warehouse in Beckley, W.Va. Prox previously distributed the chains from Terre Haute, Ind.
Irwin Mine and Tunneling Supply, an affiliate of Irwin Car and Equipment, has made a series of acquisitions in recent years in the mining equipment and industrial rail areas.
