HUESKER Group Acquires NBW Mining Australia

HUESKER Synthetic GmbH has acquired long-time partner NBW Mining Pty Ltd in Australia.
HUESKER and NBW have enjoyed an exclusive and professional business relationship over the past 20 years.
“As we welcome NBW into the HUESKER Group, we believe that their expertise in underground mining solutions will greatly contribute toward expanding our systems offering. Therefore, today marks a big step into a great common future of NBW, HUESKER and our valued customers,” said Dr. F.-Hans Grandin, CEO of HUESKER.
The NBW team have a combined 140 years’ experience in underground mining. “This is a great opportunity for HUESKER and NBW Mining to combine our strengths, diversify and capture new markets. NBW Mining was established in 1996 supplying “HUESKER Minegrid Systems” to the longwall mining industry in Australia. The concept of the HUESKER Minegrid System combined the world leading technology of HUESKER Synthetic GmbH in Germany, with the extensive longwall experience of Australian Mining Engineers Nick Wills and Davie Hunter. In parallel to NBW Mining, Davie established Hunter Mining Methods in NSW who have the only dedicated facility in the world for assembling single piece Minegrid Systems (up to 405m long) and who have also invented unique installation devices underground use.
The HUESKER Minegrid System has revolutionised longwall relocations in Australia, both in terms of safety and efficiency, and the concept was introduced in 2004 by NBW Mining into Siberia, South Africa, the UK and Norway.
