Warm temperatures and sunny skies are greeting the miners who came to town for the annual Elko Mining Expo.

Large equipment and other exhibits started to appear Tuesday at the Elko Convention Center and will continue to arrive throughout the day Wednesday. According to the National Weather Service, Elko is predicted to be sunny with highs in the 80s and 90s today and Thursday and in the 70s Friday.

Exhibit booths open to the public Thursday. The Wednesday night reception at the Red Lion is sold out.

This is the second year the Elko Convention and Visitors Authority will use the Elko Conference Center for the show and all the indoor spaces are full, said ECVA Events Coordinator Kandiss Fallowfield.

The Expo has many returning vendors and the businesses come from all over the United States and other countries, including Australia, Germany, New Zealand and Canada.

The Expo opens to the public 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

Fallowfield reminds people that “Country Under the Stars” is Thursday.

This is the third year the concert has coincided with the Expo. It is presented by the Boys and Girls Club of Elko and Sandvik Mining and Rock Technologies.

Gates open at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Elko County Fairgrounds. Tickets start at $34.
