Dakota Minerals Finds Promising Lithium Samples at Sepeda Prospect, Portugal
Dakota Minerals Ltd has received promising rock-chip sampling results of up to 2.8 percent Li2O from the Sepeda prospect in Northern Portugal.
Last month, Dakota signed an agreement to acquire 100 percent rights over three projects in Portugal containing known spodumene and petalite-bearing pegmatite swarms.
In Sepeda, the company has carried out rock-chip sampling in areas of open pit and underground historic mine workings, and shallow auger drilling over an area of historic tailings.
The sampling over the open pit and underground workings has yielded multiple samples grading more than 1 percent Li2O and up to 2.8 percent Li2O with spodumene and petalite identified.
Following these positive results, Dakota has accelerated its plans for drilling at Sepeda and aims to commence drill-testing the main pegmatites from mid-August 2016.
The initial drilling program (about 2500 meters) will focus on identifying stacked systems of shallow-dipping pegmatites, where grade and tonnage potential are highest.
Europe is an instrumental part of the growing electric vehicle (EV) market, with the highest EV penetration rate, making Dakota’s Portugal project strategically located relative to this market.
Incidentally, Dakota is also awaiting imminent results from a 3,423 meter reverse circulation drilling program at the Lynas Find Lithium Project in the Pilgangoora region in Western Australia .
The maiden resource estimate for Lynas Find is expected during Q3 2016.
Dakota is well equipped to fast-track these projects after completing a $12.3 million share placement in May 2016.
