Caterpillar’s Tucson Mining Center is almost ready to welcome about 400 employees to its new headquarters.

Employees are expected to move from their temporary work locations to the new $50 million, 150-000-square-foot facility at Cushing Street and Avenida del Convento in March.

According to a news release, the facility is expected to accommodate more than 700 employees by 2020.

This project was brought on by Rio Nuevo, whose “funds are generated from a portion of state sales tax from businesses in the Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District.”

Sundt is the construction manager for the Caterpillar’s Tucson Mining Center project.
