Battery Minerals Ltd has taken a series of steps in preparation for the development of it Montepuez graphite projects in Mozambique, which is on track for production late next year.

The company has placed an order for a new primary crusher with a capacity of over 1.3 million tonnes a year, which is already under construction and is expected to arrive on site in March 2018.

The primary crusher has a capacity of more than twice Montepuez’ requirements, giving it ample ability to meet the company’s needs for the planned expansion in 2020.

The Montepuez project development preparations follow the company’s successful capital raising last month, which raised $20 million in a heavily over-subscribed share placement.

Battery has appointed experienced lead design engineers to complete the detailed design work on the process plant at Montepuez.

To help ensure quick development of the project, an extensive recruitment campaign has been initiated to identify key development and technical personnel for roles in Perth and Mozambique.

The project already has an indicated and inferred resource of 105.9 million tonnes at 7.74 percent TGC (total graphitic content) with a significant potential for further exploration.

Battery is now completing detailed grade control drilling at Montepuez to underpin daily mining plans ahead of the grant of the mining license, which is expected this month.
