Avanco Resources Appoints Otavio Monteiro as General Manager at Antas Copper Mine, Brazil
Avanco Resources Limited has appointed Otavio Monteiro as general manager of the Antas Copper Mine in Brazil as part of an operational readiness program and the recent production of first copper concentrates.
Jair Hipólito, a fellow Brazilian has been appointed plant manager to replace Otavio Monteiro.
Fomerly plant manager and an ex-Vale aluminium company GM, Monteiro is a chemical engineer and veteran of 25 years’ in the metallurgical and chemical industries. He is a native of northern Brazil.
While Jair Hipólito is a mineral processing engineer with 24 years in the extractive industry, having worked with a number of mining majors including Anglo America, Rio Tinto, Votorantim, Yamana and Vale.
Formerly a manager of Vale’s giant Salobo copper flotation concentrator, Hipólito was responsible for all production activities associated with the production of ~300,000tpa of copper in concentrate.
COMMISSIONING ON SCHEDULE
Commissioning of the fully integrated plant is on schedule before the end of March while a watershed first shipment of copper concentrate is targeted for April.
After commissioning, the project is estimated to initially produce 12,000 tonnes per annum of copper and 7,000 tonnes per annum of gold for the next 7 years.
