Allahabad High Court Seeks Government Reply on Mining Leases, India

The Allahabad high court on Wednesday directed the Uttar Pradesh government to file before it an affidavit containing guidelines to ensure e-auction of mining leases for minerals in the state.

The court also directed the state government to stop illegal mining going on in the state. The court made it clear that it will consider lifting of its stay order on mining of major minerals in the state only after the government files the affidavit on the next date of hearing. Hearnig a PIL filed by one Gulab Chandra Mishra, a division bench bench comprising Chief Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Varma fixed May 1 as the next date of hearing.
