Williams is set to proceed with construction of its delayed Louisiana Energy Gateway natural gas gathering pipeline, after it resumes pre-construction activities along its right-of-way as early as July 25, it told the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday.

While the company is still waiting on a final ruling over two crossings in Louisiana’s Vernon Parish, Williams said its recent legal victories over Energy Transfer and acquisition of necessary federal permits and easements from landowners have made it possible to commence construction of the LEG project.

The project, which will transport gas from the Haynesville shale basin to the Gulf Coast, has been delayed due to legal battles with competitor Energy Transfer, which said it is “surprising” that Williams would start construction given ongoing regulatory and legal proceedings around the project.

The litigation has delayed Williams’ expected in-service date for LEG from late 2024 to H2 2025.
