TotalEnergies and its partners have started production from the Quiluma field in Angola.

The Quiluma field in Angola is owned by a consortium known as the New Gas Consortium, which includes Azule Energy (37.4 percent, operator), Cabinda Gulf Oil Company (31 percent), Sonangol (19.8 percent), and TotalEnergies (11.8 percent).

“By ensuring a sustainable long term gas supply for the Angola LNG plant, the project strengthens Angola’s ability to supply LNG to international markets in the long run, including Europe and Asia,” said Mike Sangster, senior vice-president Africa, Exploration and Production at TotalEnergies.

This is the first development of a non-associated gas field in Angola and the gas produced will be a stable and important source of gas supply for the Angola LNG plant that is delivering LNG to both the European and Asian markets. At plateau, the project will produce around 330 million cubic feet per day of gas, equivalent to approximately 2 million tonnes of LNG per year.

The project’s infrastructure, connecting shallow water offshore resources to a state-of- the-art onshore processing facility, marks one of the most significant achievements ever completed in the Angolan energy sector.

More than 5000 Angolan workers were mobilized at the peak of activities amongst different construction yards and with the start of production, the project generates additional direct and indirect employment throughout the life cycle of the plant, contributing to sustained economic growth.
