TC Energy has reported commercial in-service of its Wisconsin Reliability Project (WRP), a $700 million natural gas pipeline initiative designed to enhance energy security and reliability, drive economic growth and reduce emissions across Midwest communities.

During construction, WRP generated approximately $1.1 billion in economic output, supported more than 4,300 jobs, and contributed $68 million in tax revenue to Wisconsin — laying the groundwork for sustained regional growth and prosperity.

WRP is an important step toward addressing Wisconsin’s projected 45 percent surge in natural gas demand by 2035, driven by manufacturing expansion and economic development. The project has proactively upgraded and expanded key sections of the ANR Pipeline system across Wisconsin and northern Illinois to meet growing demand and position the region for future economic and industrial development.

Construction on WRP began in 2024, following two years of extensive community engagement and regulatory approvals. The project replaced approximately 51 miles of aging pipeline across Wisconsin and northern Illinois with state-of-the-art infrastructure to enhance the safety, efficiency, and reliability of natural gas transportation. TC Energy also upgraded compression facilities at Kewaskum and Weyauwega stations and enhanced meter stations in six Wisconsin communities as part of the project. WRP entered commercial service on Nov. 1, 2025.

“I was born and raised in Wisconsin and I know reliable energy fuels everything — from our farms, factories and businesses to the communities that keep our neighbors working,” said Jon Draeger, vice president, U.S. Projects, TC Energy.

“The Wisconsin Reliability Project connects our state to the energy it needs while creating well-paying jobs for local workers and generating millions in tax revenue that supports our schools and communities for generations to come,” added Draeger.

Through the Wisconsin Reliability Project, TC Energy partnered with Michels Corporation and Precision Pipeline to keep construction dollars local and boost regional economies. TC Energy contributes $6.1 million annually in taxes to Wisconsin and $1.2 million to Illinois, while its Build Strong program invested more than $500,000 in community safety, education, and environmental initiatives in 2024 between the two states.

Wisconsin is central to TC Energy’s largest planned U.S. investment portfolio, including the upcoming ANR Heartland and ANR Northwoods projects — a combined investment of $1.8 billion that will build on WRP’s success. Together, these investments will reinforce energy reliability, protect affordability and enhance resilience during extreme weather.

“By strengthening our natural gas infrastructure, this project enhances reliability and helps protect our customers from outages, especially during extreme weather. This modernization ensures continued access to safe, affordable energy — and by reducing emissions, we’re supporting a cleaner future for the families and businesses we serve,” said Mike Hooper, president, We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service.

TC Energy a leader in North American energy infrastructure, spanning Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. Its dedicated team connects the world to the energy it needs, moving more than 30 percent of the cleaner-burning natural gas used across the continent. Complemented by strategic ownership and low-risk investments in power generation, its infrastructure fuels industries and generates affordable, reliable and sustainable power across North America, while enabling LNG exports to global markets.  By partnering with communities, businesses, and leaders across its extensive energy network, they unlock opportunity today and for generations to come.
