Rosneft Begins Oil Production at Zapadno-Epasskoye Field, Russia
Russia’s crude oil producer Rosneft subsidiary RN-Uvatneftegaz has commenced oil production from the Zapadno-Epasskoye field.
The field is a new field of the Uvat project and located 250km away from the village of Uvat, Russia.
The Zapadno-Epasskoye is located within the Ust-Tegussky license area and is estimated to have recoverable oil reserves of over 17 million tonne.
The Uvatneftegaz-operated Uvat project includes a group of 15 license blocks including 12 blocks in the south of Tyumen region and 3 blocks in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District-Yugra. It has oil and condensate recoverable reserves of more than 330 million tons.
Rosneft said that the field’s well stock accounts to seven wells. Hydraulic fracturing at two wells resulted in oil production rate of 470 cubic meters per day.
The facilities of Zapadno-Epasskoye field are part of the Eastern Development Center (EDC) infrastructure, which also includes the Urnenskoye, the Ust-Tegusskoye, the Yuzhno-Gavrikovskoye, and the Malyk fields.
Three new deposits including the Protozanovskoye, Yuzhno-Gavrikovskoye, and Malyk were commissioned in 2015 under the Uvat project.
Recently, Rosneft signed a binding agreement with BP to dissolve its existing refining joint venture (JV), Ruhr Oel in Germany.
The decision is a part of the firms’ previously announced restructuring of their refining and petrochemical venture in Germany.
The Ruhr Oel JV restructuring is expected to allow Rosneft and BP to re-focus on their refining and petrochemicals strategies in Germany.
