NextEra Energy Acquires Florida City Gas from Southern Company

NextEra Energy has wrapped up its previously announced acquisition of natural gas utility Florida City Gas from Southern Company.
NextEra Energy Chairman and CEO Jim Robo said: “We are pleased to complete this transaction and welcome the Florida City Gas employees to the NextEra Energy family.
“Through our long-term strategy of enhancing productivity, expanding clean energy and making smart infrastructure investments, we will be able to extend our best-in-class value proposition of affordability, reliability and customer service to Florida City Gas customers.”
Florida City Gas serves approximately 110,000 residential and commercial natural-gas customers in Florida’s Miami-Dade, Brevard, St. Lucie and Indian River counties with 3,700 miles of natural gas pipelines.
