Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America Appoints Kiyoshi Okazoe as President
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. has appointed Kiyoshi Okazoe as president of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America, Inc. (MHIA), a wholly owned subsidiary of MHI. A veteran of the MHI North America operations, Okazoe succeeded Kenji Ando, who assumed the position of president and CEO, energy & environment, based in Tokyo.
“We are aggressively pursuing global growth, and the U.S. is a particularly important region for us,. The MHIA Head Office relocated to Texas earlier this year, and has taken a strong lead in expanding our business in North America. I am confident that under Okazoe-san’s leadership and extensive experience in the U.S., the business will continue to expand and we will continue to deepen our customer relationships and commitments to the region,” said Shunichi Miyanaga, president and CEO of MHI.
“Looking at the worldwide business, North America holds promise as the biggest market for many of MHI’s businesses. Over the course of my career at MHI Group, I have worked across different parts of the company and am both impressed and encouraged by the technological strength and highly skilled teams we have in the U.S. I see several areas of opportunity for growth, particularly in the energy, oil & gas and transportation sectors, and I see great potential in helping unify MHI Group’s businesses to bring further value to our customers and elevate MHI’s reputation in this region,” said Kiyoshi Okazoe, president of MHIA.
Kiyoshi Okazoe joined MHI in 1976 and has spent his 40-year career at MHI. Okazoe has taken leadership roles across MHI’s businesses and brings an understanding of all elements of the value chain from engineering through design, procurement to construction and project management, even including manufacturing. His most recent position was head of engineering headquarters. He has also previously served as vice president of machinery, equipment & infrastructure, executive vice president & general manager of MHIA, executive director of Mitsubishi Nuclear Energy Systems, Inc. and general manager of MHI’s Environmental & Chemical Plant Division.
This will be Okazoe’s fifth posting in the U.S. with MHI, for a total of over 13 years of operating in the U.S. Okazoe holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Nagoya Institute of Technology.
