Milestone Environmental Services Begins Construction on RCRA-exempt Oilfield Waste Landfill, Texas

Milestone Environmental Services (Milestone), an industry leader in oilfield waste disposal services, has begun construction of an RCRA-exempt oilfield waste landfill in Orla, Texas. The facility, which was permitted in March, will have capacity for approximately 6 million cubic yards and is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of this year.
The 80-acre landfill is co-located with Milestone’s existing Orla slurry injection facility and will accept all RCRA-exempt oilfield waste streams, including cuttings, contaminated soils, and water-based and oil-based muds, with room to expand capacity. Once the landfill construction is completed, Milestone will be able to accept all oilfield waste streams at its Orla location, adding solids disposal capabilities to its already best-in-class slurry disposal offering, and allowing the company to better serve clients in the Delaware Basin through comprehensive waste disposal services.

Construction of the Orla landfill begins less than two months after the company announced permitting for a second landfill in Upton County. Expansion into landfill services is the latest endeavor by Milestone, following the successful opening of two slurry injection facilities in the Permian Basin in 2018. The company’s recent growth has propelled it as the clear leader in slurry waste disposal in the Permian Basin. Milestone plans to develop several more new sites in the Permian over the next two years, including both landfill and slurry disposal facilities.
