Kerui Petroleum’s high-end wellhead brand WEFIC® had successfully completed the first offshore platform task in Myanmar which planned to develop 91 wells across 9 platforms, with 18 wells on the first platform. Kerui Petroleum will provide technical support, wellhead and Christmas Tree equipment, and installation services during the whole course of the project, which marks Kerui’s official presence in the offshore platform business.

Kerui Petroleum recruited a team of world-class talents on high-end wellhead and founded WEFIC® in Singapore in 2013, aiming to develop high-end wellhead facilities to enter new markets. The equipment in this Myanmar project was designed by WEFIC®, manufactured, assembled and tested by the Headquarters, and pre-onsite tested by Kerui’s Thailand branch.

WEFIC® modular wellhead is easier to install and much safer. Compared to conventional wellhead, the BOP of WEFIC® module wellhead only needs to be nipple up/down one time during the whole drilling process, the installation time of WEFIC® modular wellhead in comparison to conventional wellhead that can help to save about 22 hours, and saving about 33 hours depending on well design and casing program. Shortened wellhead installation time means that less drilling time is required. WEFIC® modular wellhead enables customers to save 70,000-240,000 dollars of drilling cost per well depending on different well drilling condition. To further shorten the installation time, the conventional flange connection is replaced by Kerui’s WEFIC® EZ-LOCK or WEFIC® SWIFTLOCK® technology, which is safer and faster. Moreover, the lock-ring is adopted to replace conventional tie down screw to fix the hanger to simplify installation process and save time for customers. The double-shoulder design, which evenly distributes weight, can guarantee a more reliable operation.

An offshore gas well in corrosive conditions raises higher demand for safety and stability. From design, raw material purchasing, manufacturing and even installation, Kerui has more than 40 QA processes in place to ensure quality output and reliable field operation. In order to better operate this project, Kerui uses 100 percent local engineers to provide localized services.

As China is getting matured in oil & gas facility technologies and the low oil price is constantly pressing global oil companies to enhance their cost efficiency, a historic development opportunity seems to have come for China’s offshore equipment. The completion of the offshore wellhead operation is a prelude to more opportunities in the offshore oil and gas market for Kerui Petroleum.
