Elk Petroleum Ltd has appointed David Evans as chief operating officer.

David Evans has 29 years upstream global oil & gas development, production and exploration experience, with significant exposure to Brownfield redevelopments and EOR projects. He joins Elk Petroleum from the former Drillsearch where over a 6-year period he held the positions of executive general manager-operations, chief technical officer and acting chief operating officer.

Evans’ wealth of experience as a development geologist with a strong operations background developed during his 29-year career will provide crucial technical and operational management strength to Elk’s executive team.

Prior to Drillsearch, Evans held managerial and senior oil & gas development and production positions with several leading international independent oil and gas companies and technical service companies including Vegas Egypt, Burren Energy PLC, Petro-Canada International, Cairn Energy/Command Petroleum, Roxar Limited and Baker Hughes Inteq. David also spent several years in the petroleum arm of the Australian Geological Survey Organisation.

He holds a BSc (Hons) Geology from the University of London, a postgraduate diploma in Petroleum Geology from Oxford Brookes University and a Master of Applied Science from University of Canberra. David was also the recipient of the East Coles Corporate Performance Awards 2014 Best Operational Management, Energy Sector.

“We are delighted that David is joining Elk. David was my very first executive hire at Drillsearch and was right at the heart of building the Drillsearch technical team. David was key to the results we delivered together turning Drillsearch into one of the most successful oil & gas exploration companies in Australia and transforming the company from a junior explorer into a meaningful producer,” said Brad Lingo, managing director of Elk Petroleum.

“I am really looking forward to having him join the Elk team. David’s skills along with the strong team Elk already has in the US provides the company with the right mix not only to deliver on our current pipeline of CO2 EOR projects but also provides us a strong platform for Elk applying this knowledge and experience on significant EOR projects in Australasia. David knows what it takes to be part of a management team that turns a junior oil & gas company into an ASX 200 resources company and the commitment it requires to build that type of wealth for shareholders. I very much look forward to the Elk team delivering the same outcome for shareholders,” added Lingo.

About Elk Petroleum
Elk Petroleum Limited is an oil and gas company specializing in enhanced oil recovery (EOR), with assets located in one of the richest onshore oil regions of the USA, the Rocky Mountains. Listed on the ASX in 2005, Elk’s strategy is focused on applying proven EOR technologies to mature oil fields, which significantly de-risks the company’s strategy of finding and exploiting oil field reserves. Leveraging proven EOR technology and Company expertise and experience, Elk is currently developing the Grieve oil field in Wyoming and is planning for a CO2-based EOR project at the Singleton oil field in Nebraska.
