The Bureau of Land Management generated $13.5 million in total receipts from energy sales held in the second quarter of 2025 — in line with policies championed under the Trump administration.

These revenues reflect an ongoing focus on unleashing domestic energy, supporting job growth, and promoting efficient, streamlined permitting and leasing processes.

“This quarter’s sales demonstrate the BLM’s unwavering commitment to fostering American energy dominance and reducing reliance on foreign resources,” said Acting BLM Director Bill Groffy.

“By building on the commonsense, pro-growth policies of the Trump administration, we’re ensuring public lands are supporting national security, economic strength, and the livelihood of the American people,” added Groffy.

The Bureau of Land Management leased 67 parcels totaling 59,217 acres for $13.5 million in total receipts for its second quarter of calendar year 2025 oil and gas lease sales. The BLM held six sales in Montana/North Dakota, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming. One geothermal sale was conducted in Utah resulting in 14 parcels leased over 50,691 acres for $5.6 million in revenue from bids and fees.

The combined bonus bids and rentals from the leases will be distributed between the federal government and the states where the parcels are located. Oil, gas, and geothermal lease sales support domestic energy production and American energy independence while contributing to the nation’s economic and military security.

Consistent with executive order 14154, Unleashing American Energy, BLM’s lease sales help meet the energy needs of U.S. citizens and solidify the nation as a global energy leader long into the future.

The Bureau of Land Management manages about 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
