Stillwater Mining Approves Four Year Contract with Union
About 800 union miners at Stillwater Mining Co. have approved a new four-year contract.
Scott McGinniss, of Columbus-based United Steelworkers local 11-0001, says the contract was approved Friday.
McGinniss tells The Billings Gazette that the base pay for miners stays the same.
Exact terms of the contract weren’t immediately available, but Stillwater pays among the highest wages in the state.
McGinniss says the contract includes small changes in incentives for rock breakers at the company’s main Nye mine.
Those incentives were the key point of contention last summer for miners.
Stillwater spokeswoman Jen Lawson declined comment Saturday.
