Murray Energy Responds to Supreme Court Issuing Stay of So-Called Clean Power Plan

Murray Energy Corporation is extremely pleased that the Supreme Court of the United States granted their request for an immediate, nationwide stay of the Obama Administration’s so-called Clean Power Plan. This stay prevents this illegal rule from destroying the lives and livelihoods of thousands of coal miners, and will ensure that affordable, reliable electricity is available for all Americans, including those who are poor or on fixed incomes.
Indeed, this important ruling prevents the same horrific scenario the company saw in their Utility MACT lawsuit, whereby they won in the Supreme Court on June 29, 2015, but the victory was moot because Obama’s Utility MACT rule had already forced the closure of 411 coal-fired power plant units in America.
“The Obama Administration’s climate change agenda is a fraud and the Clean Power Plan will be overturned, as the Supreme Court has indicated will occur.
