HudBay Minerals to Delay Construction of Rosemont Copper Mine, Arizona
A Canadian mining company says it expects a delay in construction of a major project in southern Arizona but is proceeding with engineering and permitting work.
HudBay Minerals Inc. says it remains committed to the Rosemont Mine in the Santa Rita Mountains southeast of Tucson.
The Toronto-based company said in an earnings statement last week that the project “is expected to be one of the first new copper projects to be built once copper prices and capital market conditions improve.”
Rosemont has been in the works for several years but remains in the permitting phase.
