CONSOL Energy Temporarily Idles Its Harvey Coal Mine, Pennsylvania
Consol Energy Inc. has temporarily idled its Harvey coal mine in southwestern Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh-based energy company said in its fourth-quarter 2015 earnings release, issued Friday morning, that it will not affect its previously stated guidance, “but it will optimize the operating schedule to offset any cost increases associated with the delay in shipments.” Consol said on Jan. 6 that it had scaled back expectations for 2016 coal sales from its southwestern Pennsylvania mines due to the warmer-than-anticipated start to the winter season and use of natural gas by power plants.
