Chemours Completes Federal Permitting for Its Trail Ridge South Project, Florida
The Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council said the Trail Ridge South Project in Florida is latest mining project to complete federal permitting.
“Congratulations to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for leading the Trail Ridge South project through federal permitting,” said Emily Domenech, Permitting Council Executive Director.
“In the past year the Permitting Council has increased our mining portfolio from 1 to 56 projects, with Trail Ridge marking the 15th to finish federal permitting under FAST-41. This accomplishment comes as the result of the Permitting Council’s focused project management, bringing transparency and accountability to improve an often inefficient permitting process,” added Domenech.
Sponsored by the Chemours Company, the Trail Ridge South project will extract zircon, monazite, and titanium in northern Florida. This project gained FAST-41 transparency status in response to executive order 14241, Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers served as the lead agency for this project’s permitting process.
The Permitting Council coordinates federal environmental reviews and authorizations for projects that seek and qualify for FAST-41 coverage. FAST-41 covered projects are entitled to comprehensive permitting timetables and transparent, collaborative management of those timetables on the Federal Permitting Dashboard. FAST-41 covered projects may be in the energy production, electricity transmission, energy storage, surface transportation, aviation, ports and waterways, water resource, broadband, pipelines, manufacturing, mining, carbon capture, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and machine learning, high-performance computing and advanced computer hardware and software, quantum information science and technology, data storage and data management, and cybersecurity sectors.
