State Agencies to Meet on Calico Resources’ Permit for Proposed Gold Mine, Oregon

The Technical Review Team that will review the application for a permit on a proposed gold mine in Malheur County will be meeting July 26 at the Department of Environmental Quality’s Western Region Office, 4026 Fairview Industrial Drive, Salem.

The team’s geochemistry subcommittee will meet from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m., followed by the full Technical Review Team from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The meetings may also be listened to by phone. For call-in instructions, contact the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries at (541) 967-2040.

The team of state agencies will review the application and is developing consolidated permit conditions to meet Oregon regulations. Bureau of Land Management representatives serve on the team in a no-voting role.

Calico Resources, owned by Paramount Gold, is in the process of drilling core samples and collecting data for its application for a permit to operate a gold mine in the Grassy Mountain area south of Vale.
