United Coal to Open Morgan Camp Coal Mine, W. Va.

The United Coal Company told 5 News Tuesday afternoon that they are closing a mine near the Upshur County and Randolph County line, and opening a new mine nearby.
5 News investigated after receiving multiple reports of rumors that The Carter Roag Coal Company Operation was closing down.
The United Coal Company, listed as the operator of the mine, told 5 News that they have mined all of the reserves left at the mine and are closing it. However, they are preparing to open a new mine nearby called Morgan Camp.
No layoffs are expected in the transition, and officials say Morgan Camp is expected to have 140 employees.
