Sandvik has in line with previous communication now completed the divestments of Mining Systems.

The Mining Systems conveyor components business, including the closely related specialist conveyor systems business in Hollola (Finland), has been divested to NEPEAN.

“We are delighted about completing the acquisition which is a great fit with the organization’s existing conveyor businesses,” said NEPEAN Chief Executive Officer, Miles Fuller.

“NEPEAN now owns significant businesses in Europe, Scandinavia, North America, Brazil and Western Australia in addition to our existing operations throughout Australia and Africa. We will also gain a broad range of advanced technology, leading products and associated IP,” added Fuller.

The Mining Systems project business has been divested to FLSmidth, with the exception of the project business assets in South Africa which awaits merger control clearance. Clearence is expected during the first quarter 2018.

“With this acquisition we will be able to increase the productivity of the complete “Pit to Plant” operation by better integrating upstream mining with downstream processing. The acquisition also allows us to digitalize the full value chain and enables a better utilisation of existing leading technologies by obtaining direct access to all key processes and equipment,” said Manfred Schaffer, FLSmidth Group Executive Vice President, Minerals Division.

Mining Systems has been reported in discontinued operations and the divested businesses will as of today be deconsolidated from Sandvik’s financial statements. The projects to be finalized during 2017–2019 by Sandvik, through an operational agreement with FLSmidth, will however remain reported in discontinued operations.
