Hexagon Mining has selected to relocate and expand its Tucson, AZ-based North American headquarters to downtown Tucson. Hexagon Mining employs 140 people in Tucson and plans to add 120 jobs over the next five years. Hexagon Mining employs 580 people worldwide and is committed to innovation, investing more than 20 percent of revenue back into R&D.

Hexagon Mining selected City Park at 40 East Congress Street, Tucson, AZ, 85701 as its new North American headquarters. The company will lease 26,000 square feet on the third and fourth floors of the Bourn Companies‘ development. Hexagon Mining plans to open downtown in Summer 2018.

New positions will include executive management, IT, engineering, R&D, product development/management, sales, HR, legal, marketing and administrative/support. Hexagon Mining is immediately hiring at its current location at 3544 East Fort Lowell Road and online.

Capital investment is estimated at $9.4 million, with a total economic impact of $224 million.

“We were looking at multiple cities for a new building suited for a North American headquarters of a global technology company. Our new downtown Tucson location and image is highly attractive for millennial talent from universities and abroad. We plan to benefit the entire Tucson region by hosting clients for training, sales presentations, and events,” said Hélio Samora, president of Hexagon Mining.

Project partners include Rio Nuevo, Bourn Companies, Pima County, City of Tucson, Arizona Commerce Authority, and Sun Corridor Inc.

“This was a highly competitive process, with Tucson vying for Hexagon Mining’s business against Denver, London, Zurich, Brisbane, and Chicago. Tucson clearly won as a recognized leader in mining, technology, and engineering expertise. Hexagon Mining joins new downtown employers such as Caterpillar and others seeing the benefit of locating in an urban setting,” said Joe Snell, president and CEO of Sun Corridor.

“This is huge for downtown Tucson: an international employer, adding to the base of businesses who have established a presence in our urban core. This impacts housing, food and beverage, and entertainment, further solidifying downtown as a live, play, and work environment,” said Fletcher McCusker, chair of Rio Nuevo District.

“We are extremely pleased to retain the headquarters of Hexagon Mining here in Tucson. While it is important to bring in new companies, it is just as important to support our existing employers. Retaining this rapidly growing, world-leading mining technology and consulting company in Tucson, along with Caterpillar and the companies operating the regional mines, emphasizes the strength of the region’s ability to leverage our mining legacy for excellent local jobs, especially those using cutting-edge technology. We look forward to Hexagon’s continued success and thank them for their commitment to our region,” said Sharon Bronson, chair of the Pima County Board of Supervisors.

“Bringing a tech company headquarters to a new downtown building is a double win for Tucson,” s. Hexagon Mining will be part of Tucson’s emerging downtown technology hub,” said Jonathan Rothschild, mayor of Tucson.

“We are excited and proud to have Hexagon Mining select City Park as their North American headquarters. They will be a great catalyst for not only our project, but also for the continuing resurgence of downtown. We appreciate the tremendous efforts of Sun Corridor Inc., Rio Nuevo, Pima County, Arizona Commerce Authority and the City of Tucson to make this a reality,” said Don Bourn, president of Bourn Companies.
