Imperial Metals Corporation said that due to the continuing forest fire situation, the Cariboo Regional District issued an Evacuation Order for the City of Williams Lake and surrounding areas.

As a result of the Evacuation Order and increased restrictions on highway use in the area, Mount Polley mine operations were suspended on July 15. The mine is not under any immediate threat from forest fires.

Mount Polley will resume operations once the situation stabilizes.
