CONSOL Energy Inc. has received permits from the state Department of Environmental Protection for three new longwall panels at Bailey Mine in northwest Greene County.

Operations can proceed with panels 6L, 7L and 8L, but the DEP has not yet acted on a modification for the permit regarding panel 4L, delays of which have caused furloughs for 300 workers, according to the Washington Observer-Reporter.

The permit has been delayed mainly because of its stream remediation plan for Polen Run near Ryerson Station State Park.

Those that were issued for the other sections of the mine will extend operations five years, said state Rep. Pam Snyder, D-Jefferson, according to the O-R.
